Glue

I once thought that all love was true
Innocent, gentle and pure.
But I only thought this before I met you;
Now, I’m not so sure.

You took my vulnerable heart in your hands
And even though I expected love,
The way that you treated me ruined my plans
And then I remembered God above.

He said, ‘Child, I love you, I hear you.
Even if he never does.’
I wanna stick to my Father in Heaven like glue,
And hold strong when push comes to shove.

The truest of love can’t be found
In this temporary home called Earth.
And though when I speak to Him I don’t hear a sound,
It’s God who determines my worth.

Not some sinful guy who expects
Me to do unrealistic things.
But I’m in love with God and I have no regrets,
My heart to Him I will bring.

He said, ‘Child, I love you, I hear you.
Even if he never does.’
I wanna stick to my Father in Heaven like glue,
And hold strong when push comes to shove.
